In all things . . . there comes the time when there is an ending. The time has now come for my falconry relationship with my seventh Red-Tailed Hawk, Hit Girl, to end. On Wednesday morning I removed her equipment, removed her Federal band, and with one last meal, I give her back her freedom, and return her to the wild. She has been a fantastic gamehawk, and I will miss her, but I wish her well as she returns to being what she was when I fished her from the sky a couple years ago . . . a fascinating and firey wild animal.
